How to Fix Your Sleep Schedule: A Step-by-Step Reset
A sleep schedule usually changes more easily when you move it gradually. Start with your wake time, use light and activity to support the new timing, and give your body several days to adjust.
Choose the target wake time
Pick the wake-up time you actually need on work or school days. Use it as the anchor for the rest of the plan.
Move gradually
Shift bedtime in small steps rather than jumping several hours at once. Your body clock may need time to catch up.
Use morning light
Morning daylight gives your circadian system a strong time cue. Spend some time outside when practical.
Reduce late-night stimulation
Lower evening light, finish stimulating tasks, and reduce long naps when they push bedtime later.
Keep weekends close
A large weekend shift can undo some of the progress. Keep the schedule reasonably close to your weekday pattern.
